Movement I is an exploration of the relationship between deliberate composition and intuitive material expression.
Fluid, organic lines unfold across a restrained blue surface, creating a sense of direction and continuous movement. These gestures interact with raised formations of acrylic paint and sand, introducing moments of resistance, interruption, and physical intensity.
The contrast between smoother areas and concentrated textures creates a visual rhythm shaped by both presence and absence.
While the lines suggest openness and freedom, the relief structures introduce weight and permanence. Their interaction produces a dynamic composition in which no single element exists independently of the others.
The work reflects a fundamental tension between the desire to establish order and the willingness to allow unpredictability.
Rather than treating these qualities as opposites, Movement I presents them as interconnected forces within the creative process.
The monochromatic blue unifies these contrasting gestures, allowing form, texture, and direction to become the primary means of expression.
Ultimately, the artwork explores the possibility of discovering freedom within structure and movement within stillness.
